Famille Hugel Estate Gewurztraminer
Wine from Alsace is perhaps the most unique in France. The history of the region makes for very interesting reading, as it has repeatedly crossed over between being part of Germany and France. It ultimately ended up being reclaimed by France after the first world war and has remained Francais ever since.
With this in mind, the bottling style of wine from Alsace has a very German feel to it. In general, the style of wine is different to any other region in France, as it produces mainly aromatic white wines, with Pinot Noir being the only permitted black grape to be used.
Famille Hugel have been creating wine in the town of Riquewihr since 1639 and their wine captures the essence/beauty of the region.
Tasting Notes, 2015 Gewurztraminer:
