LA Cetto Petite Sirah
The Baja Peninsula is a little know gem in the wine world. Most people would think that producing wine that close to the equator would be impossible and in many circumstances they would be right, but Baja in Mexico has a unique micro-climate. Grapes are planted at high altitudes to avoid humidity and vineyards are carefully irrigated.
The Valle De Guadalupe sub-region, based in the north of the peninsula has been dubbed by many as the ‘Mexican Napa Valley’ boasts granite-rich soils, similar to the Northern Rhone valley and it benefits from cooling airs from the Pacific Ocean to help moderate temperature and stop grapes from ripening too early.
This Petite Sirah from Luis Agustin Cetto shows how much the Mexican wine industry has progressed over the last 40 years. It’s a lovely varietal wine that has velvety tannins, rich but balanced dark berry aromas. It’s smooth and easy to drink, yet full-bodied.
This wine is perfect for fans of Australian Shiraz, Napa Valley Cabernet, Northern Rhone blends and Rioja style wines
