WINES FOR THE WEEKEND | WINE IN THE SUN

So, the weekend is looming and the sun is out, which means one thing, it’s time for wine! We really take our weekends and summer drinking seriously, so we have decided to list our favourite summer wines in a weekly post!

 

Each week we will be profiling two wines which we think you should be drinking over the course of Saturday and Sunday (and Friday night). So sit tight, have a read and drink wine. This week our theme is essential wine in the sun.

 

WHITE WINE FOR THE WEEKEND

 

VILLA BENIZI PINOT GRIGIO

 

 

This Pinot Grigio from Venezie delivers the very essence of the very popular grape varietal at an affordable price. It’s Crisp and refreshing, with apple and hazelnut flavours and just a hint of spice. We think it’s perfect served chilled on it’s own, or with salads, fish, light chicken dishes and lightly spiced foods.
It’s a great wine, but don’t just take our word for it; We stock ‘The Red Lion‘, a popular village pub in South Yorkshire with this gem. It’s an  essential wine in the sun.

RED WINE FOR THE WEEKEND

THREE PILLARS SHIRAZ

 

This Shiraz is a medium bodied wine, combining fresh blackberry flavours with gentle floral aromas. The finish is smooth, with subtle vanilla and cedar oak adding a savoury quality to the wine. This a great wine for a Friday/Saturday night just as the temperature drops. It’s smooth, easy to drink and doesn’t break the bank.

We’re in love with Three Pillars, but again don’t take our word for it, as ‘Le Bistro‘, a long standing restaurant in the iconic village of Wentworth have this on their wine list!
